They have aggressive marketing and promise £200 Amazon vouchers for joining, do not fall for this. I invited a person to join their business and they said I’ll get a voucher. I been called several times and send emails and keep promising they will fix and call me back. They lied to me more than 10 times. Also emails I send I never got response. I’m with them about 7 months and also no jobs they offer, around 1 /week and they just take £150 from my account monthly. They are friendly and nice when you sign the contract after you are completely ignored. No support. They have a whapp number and answer after few days. You reply and after few days they reply again. I can prove all my above text. I have screenshot and recorded conversations with them. Unprofessional staff, they still call me to offer me more are for jobs asking for money. When I tell them I been scammed they hang up… Don’t fall for this aggressive marketing

Don't trust signing a contract. They called me every few times and stressed and bothered me, I started filling out the application but gave up halfway through because I didn't like the terms. Someone decided that it should be completed on my behalf, which I don't agree with, and when I thought it was all over, I got an email saying I had to pay £166 for the whole year. It was terrible, there is no option to cancel and they don't answer the phone, a well-prepared scheme. Now I'm thinking of contacting a lawyer.

I have been a member for many years, but the latest advertising of splitting directories has messed up our advertising and I have tried calling checkatrade so many times and I am fobbed off and the manager has not called me back even they know they have made a mistake with our leaflet drops. The app I believe is AI as 4 random names come back but never want you to help If they were a business on checkatrade they would have been terminated. Very unhappy

Summary.

Very expensive, went from £90 a month to £160 a month in 5 years.

You can't cancel if you cease trading, even after 6 years.

Low quality leads - it used to be pretty good, now just people wanting a cheap job.

My advice would be, spend your advertising elsewhere. GoogleAds and newspapers represent better value for money.

I've been listed as a tradesman for years on Check-a-Trade. I've recently stopped trading, and will no longer be answering the phone when customers call. On calling Check-a-Trade they telle I cannot cancel because my listing has auto renewed and it can't be cancelled because I have entered into a contract, meaning I have to pay them for a listing I will not be using.

The subscription has gone up over 60% in 6 years. It was £90, now £160.

Leads are pretty rubbish. Lots of time wasters, and people who want to pay as little as possible.

Checkatrade offer a really useful service as they list all the traders that don't return phonecalls, promise quotes and don't deliver them and ignore the problem you asked them to check. All you need to do is avoid all the cowboys that Checkatrade list - a rogues gallery of shysters.

Jody and his team were at all times very polite with attention to detail.
Despite inclement weather I was kept informed of the progress of the work and now have a driveway as clean as new, sparkling windows and a moss free roof. Many thanks excellent work.

This sounds like a very benevolent consumer-protection organisation - nothing could be further from the truth.
It is nothing more than an intermediary, profit-making 'agency' for the provision of 'trademen' services at a grossly inflated fee; yet you have very little additional legal protection for your money.
Find the BBC Ripoff Britain podcast to explain more.
Otherwise, treat the 'tradesmen' that Checkatrade proposes with as much caution, if not even more, than if approaching them directly without involving Checkatrade.

I have bad experience about check trade is not good quality. The staff is bad attitude and app is crap. I have other members better than you.

Checktrade still waste money from you business. I not recommend with them
