I truly recommend this company. I used their service 2 years ago and came back to them just now again. Both experiences were simply brilliant. Sue at the office is very efficient, responds to emails quickly and organizes everything perfectly. Mark who did the survey on both occasions was very friendly, showed up on time and processed the survey on the next working day. He was very informative and helpful. I contacted a company called Goto group to do a survey, they sub-contracted Sykes Robinson to do the survey. The survey itself was done promptly and given to me quickly enough.

Sadly, upon moving in, I found a big damp patch in the kitchen which was not mentioned in the report. In order to see it, it requires walking into the kitchen and looking around the extractor fan. The surveyors photos makes it clear he never went past the doorway (or even bothered to turn the lights on) and subsequently didn't see it. This damp is caused by a significant defect in the shower tray. The water has escaped and caused a lot of damage to the floor and walls of the bathroom and ceiling of the kitchen. It is going to cost thousands to replace and Sykes Robinson has made it clear that they aren't willing to accept any blame.

I whole heartedly suggest you avoid Sykes Robinson and the Goto Group in favour of finding a reputable surveyor directly.

Update: The 'photographic evidence' referred to in the response is simply a photo from the doorway of the kitchen with the lights turned off. This was the best they could send as they had nothing else. As I mentioned, they went no further than the door and didn't even bother to turn the lights on. The shower tray had clear issues and had significant irregularities that were picked up instantly by two separate people who actually knew what they were doing.

My mortgage adviser actually suggested Sykes Robinson & another place. Sykes was about £100 cheaper - I was abit put off by some of the older reviews so I rung and spoke to Sue who assured me they were under new leadership & all the newer reviews were positive. I had a great experience - home buyers report back within the week. Just wish the solicitors were as quick & seamless! Couldn’t recommend enough.

Under no circumstance should you use this company if you are looking to move house swiftly. They originally conducted a home buyers report which mentioned an issue with the end of terrace wall. This subsequently resulted in my mortgage application being rejected. I had to convince the seller to get a structural report on the house. This came back and said there were no issues with the wall. I then sent this back to my mortgage lender for it reviewed by Sykes. After 3 WEEKS the principal surveyor still hasn't even looked at the report. As a result of this unprecedented delay, I have had to take time off work and move back in with my mother as the current contract on my flat is up. I have been contacting them almost every day trying to get an answer but with no luck.

Absolutely shocking service - Do not use

We upgraded our Lender's Valuation to a HomeBuyer's Report and I found the service provided by Sykes Robinson LLP very smooth, well organised, flexible, and efficient. Within a week we'd been booked in, had the surveyor visit, and received the detailed HomeBuyer's report. Cannot fault the service at all. Thank you to Mark, Sue, and team!

Sykes Robinson were used to do a Home Buyers Survey for a property that I was purchasing. Due to some confusion created via a 3rd Party company who referred us, Sue went the extra mile to get us the report as soon as it was available, this allowed us to ensure that our house sale could proceed promptly. This firm is dreadful! Under no circumstances use them. I paid for a full building survey and they failed to notice an enormous structural problem, which then cost me over £8000 to remedy. They did not take my complaint seriously, they advertised themselves as chattered surveyors when they are not, and when I went to the ombudsman they were ordered to pay me £8000 approx which they have not done! I have wasted days of my life attempting to get compensation for the problems caused by their incompetence, negligence and general indifference to their responsibilities to their customers.
