Whilst I don’t normally do reviews, I was so impressed with Cavan Atkinson that I wanted to share my experience. A CGT return was overdue because my first accountant failed to do anything for two months and my next accountant was incompetent. I was very concerned about mounting penalties and interest. I contacted this firm, amongst others, in the hope of getting the return done this side of Christmas but suspected I would not find anyone to do it within a week. My case also had to be dealt with remotely and I was a little concerned but need not have worried . The first response I got was from Cavan on Monday morning and after an initial conversation it was clear that he knew what he was doing, would not need to go and get advice from some other tax experts , that he understood the urgency and agreed to get the return in before Christmas.
He dealt with it quickly and efficiently, and we discussed and agreed a couple of potentially contentious points. I found him intelligent, a good communicator, responsive and engaging throughout.
My tax return was submitted within 36 hours of the signing of the engagement letter. His speed and efficiency far exceeded my expectations and although the firms charge was higher than I had been quoted by the two other hopeless accountants, the work was done quickly, promptly and correctly so I think you get what you pay for. I found Cavan approachable and a pleasure to deal with which always helps. I say this all this as a retired solicitor with over forty years experience of advising the public. They agreed a price for the service that was individual to the size of our firm. This is important as a smaller law firm as often some places can charge the same no matter the size of the company.
