I’ve been using FreeAgent for a couple years now. I have to say, I love everything about it. Who thought bookkeeping could be so enjoyable? The phone app makes it super easy to snap expense receipts and log expenses as they happen. And the daily alerts helps me reconcile my transactions as soon as they appear. I love it!

I have been a user of FreeAgent for over 8 years, both as a contractor with a limited company and, more recently, as the owner of a medium-sized business. I always found it intuitive and the API very useful. The nature of our business is such that we make a large number of payments to subcontractors in bulk every week, most of them with identical amounts.These have unique reference numbers which are recorded on the FreeAgent bills and on the bank transaction.

I noticed that we were having to manually explain most of these payments every week, which at times was in excess of 200 transactions. This was both tedious and time-consuming. I researched how the "guess rules" worked and discovered that it looked at the date and amount only in open/overdue bills, As a result, it could not explain our transactions because it found many in that category.

I requested an enhancement several times to include the bill reference in the guess rules but the request was rejected on 2 occasions. I explained the predicament and that it was not sustainable for our business, but it fell on deaf ears. From what I can tell from the FreeAGebn Depot, which is their product pipeline, the only thing they have been working on for the last three months, and plan to work on for the rest of the year, is some email functionality. I am disappointment that I now have to migrate my business accounts to Xero at a material cost and would not recommend FreeAgent as a result of the poor support I have received and the obvious functional gap that they refuse to prioritise.

I really love FreeAgent - it makes feel in control of my finances finally! I can work with my accountant on the same system so we both have instant overview of things. That's amazing.
Also love how invoicing and any other finance admin suddenly becomes a joyful task.
