It is really impressive how they had the technology to build such an impressive particles accelerator in the 80s or even the 70s.

The scientists there are really friendly. They tried to simplify the scientific information for us

Photos are allowed there. It was also possible to go inside one of the inactive accelerators and to see some of the preparations for the experiments.

I visited DESY at the "Tag der offenen Tür" and it was great. Very interesting projects there and a lot of passionate people wanting to show what they are working on.
If you have the chance and are interested in physics / science in general do visit this place.

Great research center. The canteen could be better, but there's always the currywurst option. Some of the older experiments are on display all around the campus in an open-air exhibition.

Block 3 is a conducive place for classes - well maintained with water cooler, vending machine and toilet.

Petra user here. We had beam almost all the time, the beamline scientists were helpful. 4/5, would apply for beamtime again. The cantine could be better though.
