I have been with HelpBox for 3 years they started off OK and have unfortunately gone down hill from there.

The biggest problem seems to be communication between the junior staff and the senior accountants and manager as well as a general feeling that as a small or micro ltd company you are not priority. I have had to wait weeks to get answers to simple questions, I threatened to leave late 2024 and they gave me 3 months for FREE no improvement. I have had to correct silly mistakes on accounts but the main thing is when I call no one is ever avaliable and don't ever get back to you.
The actual accounting staff and managers seem competent and get things done but getting hold of them is hard.

It's frustrating to speak to so many junior staff and never seem to get the answers or get fobbed off and yet 5 mins with an accountant often fixes the problem.

I can't recommend them to anyone it has been and utter shambles and really an embarrassment to a company with over 900 accounts.

They need to move with the times and use encrypted buisness WhatsApp to speed everything up with managerlment oversize on the chats or a similar new system.

I get the impression they are a mid size company trying to be a big firm and failing; splitting at the seams and losing clients fast.

1/5 for there only redeamimg staff Rob (accountant) and Katie (Accounts) & Issy in (payroll) it would be 0 otherwise.

In 3 years I never felt this company cared about my buisness only those names above.

I've been with them for a few months now and have been putting off reviewing to see what they're like. If you want a dedicated account manager, then these guys aren't the one. But, if like me you're ok with replying to whoever sends you an email then they're fantastic.

The price is great for what they offer and I like that I can book a call with someone whenever I need to. Also, everyone I've spoken to has been excellent. There have been a few bits I didn't understand and they took the time to explain what they were saying and make sure I understood before moving on.

I have no complaints at all. Friendly staff and a great service.

Having recently started up my company having to find an accountant was a concern. Having done some research I decided to go with Helpbox. I think I made a good decision as they could not have been more helpful. Everything concern I have had has been answered by them and so far the service has been excellent. I would certainly recommend.

We thought we'd be getting a personalised experience, with a dedicated account manager but no. We hardly ever spoke to the same person twice and communication between colleagues was virtually non existent. Call backs didn't happen. Some emails were just simply ignored. Our final report was incorrectly processed despite having handed over our books in Xero. They are set up to follow standard practices with very little understanding of your business and therefore, limited advice on what would benefit the business and guiding us on how to spend and categorise funds. Inexperienced young employees gave us mixed instructions regards bookkeeping and we lost faith and trust in the company's abilities. I would not recommend them.

I regret EVER using this firm. My experience has been nothing short of a disaster—riddled with errors, miscommunication, and a complete lack of accountability.

Tax Return Mishandling
Despite providing all requested documentation on time, my tax return was not completed properly—in fact, it was not completed at all. My Xero account was never accessed, and I was repeatedly asked for the same information I had already provided, demonstrating a clear failure in internal communication.

Confidentiality & Data Breach Concerns
Perhaps most shocking of all, I was sent another client’s tax return via email—despite telling them to stop sending me his personal information 4 days prior - an egregious breach of confidentiality and data protection. If this happened to me, I can only imagine how many other clients’ sensitive financial data has been mishandled.

Direct Debits Taken Without Authorization
Even after formally terminating services, direct debits were reinstated without my consent. I had to (and am still continuing to do so) reverse multiple unauthorized charges via my bank’s Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme.

Every attempt to rectify these issues was met with delays, deflection, and dismissive responses. Refunds were "offered" in one breath and then withheld in the next under the guise of an internal "review process"—despite the fact that their own emails already confirmed the service failures, and that they would not charge us.

And this doesn't even scratch the surface!

Avoid at all costs. A firm that cannot manage the basic fundamentals of accounting, client communication, and data security is not one you should trust with your finances.
