The High Peak Junction is a fascinating place for those interested in the Cromford and High Peak railway. It offers a unique glimpse into the history and engineering of this iconic transportation system. The onsite cafe is a lovely little stop on a hike, providing delicious vegan snacks and featuring soya milk on request.

The engineering workshop is a must-see, with plenty of information about the operations and the people who worked on the railway. The junction itself is a testament to the skill and ingenuity of the workers who constructed it over 200 years ago.

Fascinating place for those interested in the Cromford and High Peak railway. Having visited Whaley Bridge end of the railway, which is local to me, was great to see the other end and the canal that it connected. The engineering workshop is excellent, and there is a lot of information about operations.

Lovely place to stop off at for a hot/cold drink, snack/ice cream and a toilet break. Plus you can walk around the small museum whilst you're there including walking around two of the old train carriages from the mining era.

Great place to walk or cycle. However, the acses bridge from the car park is closed for repair. The diversion is an attractive walk but adds around half a mile to the walk. The visitor centre at the old workshops is great, but a bit to clean up.

A pleasant stroll along the canal and back was enjoyed, with minimal congestion and a tranquil atmosphere. Several notable landmarks were observed during the walk.

There is a reasonably priced cafe of sorts here serving hot and cold drinks. We arrived at midday and most of their limited food had gone, but it was cakes and savory things like sausage rolls. There is a small museum exhibition on the history of the junction which is interesting if you like that sort of thing

Beautiful spot to have a drink and watch the world go bye. The coffee shop, toilets ample outdoor seating, and a railway workshop. It is at one end of the fabulous High Peak Trail.

Really nice place to go walking around the river.. always busy here! There’s a kiosk here too that serves tea, coffee and snacks. Public toilets are also here. I would def recommend this for everyone who’s up for a nice walk, or walking their dogs.
