I have been using IDL for a year now with my students. I have come across some bugs but the response from customer service has been brilliant and all challenges have been ironed out. These are problems that many software companies face as they are working across different devices, platforms and operating systems. The test is in the response; which I can not fault.
Many of my students (neurotypical and neurodiverse), including those with English as a Second Language, have improved their literacy and numeracy using this programme and I would recommend it. I love that it is cloud based and students can also learn at home.

My Honest IDL Review: I would give zero stars if I could. This so-called 'idl' (which I think stands for I don't learn) has given me 2 brain disorders and made me lose several brain cells. the MTC lessons are rubbish, you can just feel the general low quality in this application. The only fun I get out of this is making fun of how bad it is. I think that this is made for dyslexic people, but if it is, THEN WHY THE HECK DOES IT OFFER A SCHOOL PLAN?! I thought that this would be a home learning thing for dyslexic people. Is there some sort of Only Dyslexic People school that I'm not aware of? but yet our entire (Non-Dyslexic) school
uses it as a way to... "Learn."
Also why the heck is like 90% of the buttons say "Oops! Access To This has been locked!" Overall the quality is rubbish. Yes, give me 5 hours to answer 1 x 1. Yes make the backspace button delete 10245473 Quintillion characters. Yes, wipe my progress because I accidentally pushed a button. Also why can't we just use the enter key? Sometimes my screen also just goes white for no reason? The lag is SO Bad, in fact some of the maths lessons are just fine, But some of them have So much lag it's impossible! The tests are just the same 120 questions over and over again, so if you're somehow stuck on any, you can just memorise it. Also Not-To-Mention Basically Everything About This Program Is WAY Too Easy, And The Teachers Are Always Like “Oh? Well If You Get The Questions Right Then It’ll Get Harder!” BUT IT NEVER DOES!!! Also Some Other Points Are That The Background Looks Like Someone Just Ate A Bunch Of Vegetables And Vomited All Over The Screen and Overall, If anyone is looking to buy this. DO NOT BUY IT. You will save lives, 1 Star.

Do I have to give a star? OK, maybe for the initial few minutes of fun.
Buying idl was my worst home educating decision in nearly 10 years. To be honest, it's pretty much one of my worst decisions ever.
My son (10) has completed all the test questions correctly. Idl doesn't tell the child this, of course, we spent 3 days trying to work out how on earth he'd got 3 questions wrong before I contacted idl for help. After the test ending in the same way it does when you get a questions wrong, it eventually turns out he had successfully reached the end of the test. This was only 3 months into the programme and when I asked what we do next, I received no response from IDL. When I pursued it, I was told to get him to continue with the linear lessons. There was no response when I asked what the point was as he had demonstrated with the test that he had gone beyond this level.
The test questions are the same 120 questions - there is no variance within them. IDL said to only do the test once a term, and if you basically 'do school at home' this may work for you. But we wanted a way to help our son know where he was up to compared with his peers. He didn't understand the questions (to be honest, neither did I in some instances) but when we explained the concept it was trying to assess he wanted to do the test again. I think he did it 5 times in 3 months, finishing at a different level each time, depending on which concepts he was unfamiliar with.
IDL wanted to (a) claim credit for my son's improvement which is a little cheeky given it contributed nothing apart from asking wacky questions and (b) wanted to say he was tested too much so learned the answers (but he finished on a different question each time so that's also nonsense.
You might think its great that my son has done so well, and he is bright, but these test questions in no way demonstrate competence at key stage 2 level.
Also, I was told that IDL is for poor achieving students, so no use if your child is ahead of their level. IDL do not offer refunds. They said like that like it was a stuck record. And no, they are not accountable to an external agency who can review their provision.
I feel very aggrieved that we invested so heavily in a programme which is  charges home educators ridiculously high amounts compared to school children, is poorly constructed and doesn't enable you to correctly assess where your child is at. I totally regret my investment.
If you home educate, want a flexible way to review what level your child is at, look elsewhere. This one is full of pitfalls.
