The Naze Tower in Walton-on-the-Naze is a truly special place, offering something for everyone in the family, including our four-legged friends. We’ve made it a regular destination with our grandchildren and our dog, and it never fails to impress.
The tower itself is a fascinating historical landmark, but the surrounding area is equally captivating. The walks are simply superb, allowing you to stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh sea air while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for a gentle stroll, there's a path for you. The sheer expanse of the landscape, with its dramatic cliffs and sweeping beaches, is a feast for the eyes. It's the perfect place to let the grandchildren run free and the dog explore to their heart's content.
One of the highlights of our visits is undoubtedly the charming coffee shop nestled within the tower. It’s a warm and welcoming space, perfect for a mid-walk pick-me-up. The coffee is excellent, and the selection of treats is always tempting. What truly adds to the experience is the adorable gift shop housed within the same space. It's filled with unique and quirky items, making it easy to find a special souvenir or a thoughtful present.
The Naze Tower and its surroundings offer a wonderful blend of history, natural beauty, and modern comforts. It’s a place where memories are made, whether you're building sandcastles with the grandchildren, enjoying a quiet moment with a coffee, or simply taking in the stunning vistas. We highly recommend a visit – you won't be disappointed! ❤️

New favourite beach/nature reserve on the eastern coast. It's amazing when it's sunny, as you can go hunting for shark teeth on the rocky beach, bring your dog all year round, splash around in the little pools left by the high tide in the sheltered little beaches between the piers (safe for little ones) and go swimming/body boarding when it's hot. It's also good on a grey, windy day, because the coastal walk is beautiful and the green next to the Naze Tower is perfect for kite-flying. There's also a wonderful visitor centre (with great gifts) with toilets and a little shop that's perfect for ice-creams and any beach gear you may need. And ample parking! If you really want amusements or fish & chips, you can go further south to the town centre.
The Naze Tower itself is a lovely historic site to visit, really good value as you can climb to the top (stunning views) but you can also enjoy history boards, art galleries and tea rooms on several of the floors on the way up/down.

Overall, such an amazing, cheap day out.

Absolutely wonderful place full of history. Lots of information that is set on each floor, as well as things to buy. I really wanted one of the little robots, but I didn't want to climb all the way back up! The stairs are a little anxiety inducing for me but I managed it. Going down is much worse but completely worth it for the gorgeous view. The way the wind hits you up there is refreshing!

Lovely visit to the Tower. The access is a very narrow spiral staircase so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The stairs take you through levels you can stop and view local artwork and rest on the way if needed. Once you get to the top the view is amazing! Pick a clear day for best views. There is a write up telling you what you can see, my only improvement would be depending on where you are standing give you a visual and description for that view. Art work is amazing if you want to treat yourself and you can grab a coffee at the little place outside. We then took a walk along the beach and military walk around the reserve visiting old pillbox remains which was interesting.

The view from the tower was spectacular and each floor on the way to the top had various art galleries which were great, the beach was lovely and dog friendly.

Walked along the cliff, really nice view out to the sea and then went down to the beach. Really loved this one. I liked how they have left part of it natural, so no barriers just beach! Makes for a really nice walk! It's interesting to see how it's all eroding away. Found a few fossils too (twigs!).

As someone who has visited Naze Tower, I can say that it's an excellent place to visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or just looking for a beautiful view. The tower itself is an impressive structure, standing tall at 86 feet high, and it's steeped in history, dating back to the 18th century.
Inside the tower, there are several floors of exhibits and displays, providing visitors with information about the history of the area and the role the tower played in coastal defence during World War II. One of the highlights of the tower is the top floor, where visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the coastline, including the North Sea and the surrounding countryside.
What I particularly appreciated about Naze Tower was the well-informed and friendly staff. They were happy to share their knowledge about the history of the area and the tower, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Amazing exhibitions, which change regularly. My niece bought a lovely picture from one of the artists. We were lucky, as the exhibition ended fhe day before, however some artists were still in the process of packing away their work. Lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Delicious food available. We sat in the shepherd's hut and had the best jacket potato's for lunch, nice crispy skin. Also non dairy milk available for a yummy hot chocolate.
Amazing views from the top of the tower.
