My experience with PayStream was that they were absolutely brilliant in every way. I was with them for just over 3 years during which time I was paid every single Friday regardless of Bank Holidays, rate changes, contract changes etc. I was paid the right amount every time. I never once had to chase them. All for a tiny fee and they also do value-add services like preparing your tax return.

I believe Paystream is one of the best, if not the best, umbrella companies in the market. They offered all the features I needed in an umbrella, the key ones being salary sacrifice support and pension contributions payment into SIPP. The admin charges are very reasonable and the administration is super efficient; I did not face a single problem in 4 years of working with them. Customer service was great as well and all queries were always answered very quickly.

I've contracted via PayStream twice now, and even when a couple of complex matters arose when managing pay and pension contributions, we were always able to find someone who could readily and willingly resolve matters. No frustrating long waits and poorly developed IVR - just straight through to super-competent people who if they couldn't easily guide me, would take personal responsibility for finding someone that could, and actually call back! Or 'service' as it's otherwise known. Excellent.

I cannot speak highly enough of Paystream. I used their service for over 3 years with no issues. Any questions/queries I had were always resolved immediately. The customer service team were always happy and cheery when answering the phone too, little things like that always makes a company stand out.

I strongly advise against using this company due to their poor customer service and unreliable payroll management. After repeated attempts to submit my expenses—each accompanied by the necessary receipts and a detailed breakdown of VAT-inclusive and VAT-exclusive items—I have consistently faced unnecessary disputes over the claim amounts.

To ensure clarity, I even compiled a fully itemised spreadsheet, cross-referencing each expense ID with my receipted claims, this took up my own valuable personal time to put this spreadsheet together along with numerous phone calls to try and resolve the situation, only to be told they could not work out the claim amounts!! As a result I lost 20% tax relief benefit on all expenses.

Additionally, they refused to reimburse me at the standard rate of £0.45 per mile, despite providing receipts for each journey. The inefficiency and dismissive attitude in their responses, such as: “I’m sorry this is not the outcome you had hoped for today, but if there is anything else I can assist with further, please do let us know,” only add to the frustration.

Do not let this company manage your financial payroll services unless you want to loose money!

If I could have submitted this review without 1 star I would have done! they are awful and I will be leaving them to use another service provider.

I am extremely disappointed with how my expense claims have been handled, despite submitting clear and comprehensive documentation. Despite the financial loss I incurred due to errors on your part, you have refused to offer any form of reimbursement/compensation, even as a goodwill gesture. This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially when I provided all necessary details to ensure accurate processing.

If PayStream come across this review, you will recognise who I am, given our extensive discussions regarding my expense claims. I am also aware of other colleagues who use your services and share similar dissatisfaction. They, too, have decided to leave.
