I first heard of Ghyston during their memorable investor advice event at Bath Digital Festival 2024. I attended as a stray founder, wanting to see the pitching scene from an investor's point of view. They taught us about red flags, so I certainly won't be including any of those. All very educational.

The second time I met them was at their offices, when they hosted the 4th AI West event. This ran really well, despite me feeling like only half my brain was working, due to a late-night meeting the day before, and working into the small hours. All the main players in the Bristol AI scene were present, and discussion flowed freely.

Their reception area is small for an event of that kind, but they managed to squeeze 40 people into one of their larger offices, for presentations with a video projector etc. They laid on strong Coffee and pastries in a breakout zone probably designed for that number maximum. The squeeze isn't their fault: Their part of the building isn't designed for sizable events, with eg the toilets on the other side of a secure entry door.

I couldn't easily tell from the views from the windows where I was, as Bristol was unfamiliar from that point/height. I did work out that their offices include the extreme West of the building. This would also mean that anyone leasing only central space, would have to enter via other people's offices, as there are no lifts/stairs between the two ends of what is quite a long crescent.

Finding my way to their offices was tricky, and all other attendees felt this way too: Neither Streetview nor map view help, because you access the main part of the building, run by Progression, over the top of the rear carpark, two stories above street level, on a road which has not been mapped by Streetview. Google Earth shows a little of it, although its info mainly shows a building site. Confusingly, you leave via the second floor: The lift buttons (from memory) include an extra lower level, which wasn't marked on Progression's building layout, on their website. If you're really stuck, I suggest emailing Ghyston, as I did. AI West have promised to include better directions next time.
